I have visited the Kashubian region of Poland and explored several places where beliefs, traditions and cultures, historically existing in the area, are mixed - from paganism, to goth culture, Kashubian demonology and Christianity. These sites have become a source for creating alternatives for the possibility of spiritual development, the formation of communities and, with it, rituals. The stone circles in Węsiory, Odry and Grzybnica are today spaces where, according to one of the cycle’s protagonists, Guru Gienek, one can imbibe cosmic energy. In order to achieve this, the guru invented rituals, amulets and objects to gather around himself people longing for inner transformation or renewal among the stone constructions that have existed here for centuries.
Here, the sphere of human spirituality finds its outlet in giving symbolism to things and phenomena. Objects that are otherwise considered ordinary and worthless, here become carriers of human ideas and magical objects, representing the need to find meaning. The context and ritual use of objects gives them gravity, materiality and phenomenal value. Although, in reality, the very essence of things remains the same.
